Take Survey - Brunswick County Transportation Plan

Brunswick County, it’s municipalities, Cape Fear Rural Planning Organization, GSATS Metropolitan Planning Organization, and NCDOT have created a steering committee to start the Brunswick County Comprehensive Transportation Plan (CTP). The CTP is a 25-30 year long range multimodal transportation plan that will assess Brunswick County’s existing and future transportation needs including roadways, bicycle, pedestrian, transit and rail facilities and services. The goals of a CTP are to assist with identifying transportation deficiencies, setting short - and long-term transportation priorities, establishing a relationship between local and regional expectations, and to reinforce and support other local and regional planning and funding initiatives. Once this plan is finalized, the Town of Ocean Isle Beach Board of Commissioners will need to adopt the Town's portion of the plan.

One of the most important pieces of information required to develop a CTP is to gather the county growth data, this data is gathered from the Office of State Budget and Management (OSBM) in order to determine future growth. According to OSBM, the county will experience 2.93% annual growth between the study base year of 2017 to the future study year of 2045. The county is growing at a much higher rate than the state of North Carolina – which is 0.9% annual growth.

The Steering Committee will be creating a long-range Vision, Goals and Objectives for the county. We want feedback from residents and visitors of the county to help create the Vision, Goals and Objectives as well as to guide the entire CTP process. We ask you to help us spread the word about a survey we have created for residents and visitors to take. The survey will be open from: March 10, 2021 to June 9, 2021.
