The Ocean Isle Beach Fire Department was originally established in 1976 and acquired by the Town on July 1, 2008. Ocean Isle Beach Fire Department proudly protects 6000 permanent residents and commercial interest in an area of eleven (11) square miles. The ISO rating is a 4. Our department is a combination department with a career staff of eleven (11) fulltime firefighters, nine (9) part time firefighters, a Fire Chief and Assistant Fire Chief along with eleven (11) dedicated Volunteer Firefighters. The department had 620 calls for service in 2009.

The mission of the Ocean Isle Beach Fire Department is to continually improve and provide unsurpassed customer service in the areas of fire suppression, emergency medical care, water rescue, and any other duties needed by our town, county, state and country.

Chiefs

Robert M. Yoho, Jr. Chief		Charles G. "Chuck" Rash Assistant Chief
Robert was born in Rocky Mount NC in 1959. His family moved to North Myrtle Beach in 1965 and this is where he grew up. Robert graduated High School in 1978. He began working in Ocean Isle Beach in June of 1980 and began volunteering with the fire department in 1984. Chief Yoho is the longest tenured Firefighter with 24 years service with the Ocean Isle Beach Fire Department. Chief Yoho is a member of the North Carolina State Firefighter’s Association, an Honorary Lifetime Member of the Delaware State Fire Chief’s Association, and the North Carolina Association of Fire Chiefs. Chief Yoho is a two time recipient of the department’s Firefighter of the Year Award. Chief Yoho is married to the former Pam Sloane and has three children daughters, Lauren, Adrienne, and Alexis, and two granddaughters, Savannah and Brooke.		Originally from Lenoir, NC via Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton CA. Asst. Chief Rash has 13 years of service with the Ocean Isle Beach Fire Department Asst Chief Rash is a member of the North Carolina State Firefighter’s Association, North Carolina Association of Fire Chiefs, the North Carolina Society of Fire and Rescue Instructors and is on the Continuing Education Staff at Brunswick Community College where he instructs Fire, Water Rescue, and Emergency Medical Technician classes. He is a recipient of the department’s Firefighter of the Year Award. Asst. Chief Rash is married to the former Vanessa Poston of Florence, SC and has three children Hannah, Allison, Matthew and one grandchild Hayden.
