TOWN CLERK –The Town of Ocean Isle Beach is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Town Clerk. Under the direct supervision of the Town Administrator, this position provides a full range of Town Clerk responsibilities and administrative support to the Town Administrator. Duties include but are not limited to:
Prepares council packets, agendas and minutes; attends council meetings; and assists with any necessary follow-up as a result of action taken by the Town Council; Prepares and posts notices of meetings pursuant to the Open Meetings Law; Researches and retrieves Public Records requests for information; Updates and maintains the Town of Ocean Isle Beach Code of Ordinances by making necessary preparations for codification of supplements; Maintains files for the Town Clerk’s Office and Town Administrator’s Office based on Records Retention Schedule and other duties as required.
Graduation from a college or university with an Associate’s degree in business or related field and considerable experience in office management work, preferably including some experience in the safekeeping and care of public records; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Certification as a North Carolina Certified Municipal Clerk or as a Certified Municipal Clerk through the International Institute of Municipal Clerks preferred or ability to obtain Municipal Clerk certification within timeframe specified by the Town. Possession of or ability to obtain Notary Public designation within the first year of employment. Successful candidate must have intermediate experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher) and possess valid NC driver’s license. Salary $39,959 - $59,939 depending upon qualifications + experience.

UTILITY MAINTENANCE MECHANIC - The Town of Ocean Isle Beach is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Utility Maintenance Mechanic. An employee in this class performs a variety of unskilled, semi-skilled and some skilled labor work as a member of a crew engaged in the construction, maintenance and repair of distribution lines, installation and calibration of water meters, water and sewer taps, installation and maintenance of hydrants, meter reading, assisting customers with water leaks and maintaining records of work activities. Work also includes assisting with maintenance and repair of storm water system lines and related activities. Employees participate in a rotating on-call to perform checks and take and test water samples and to respond to calls for service or problems. Employees are subject to working in water and sewer pipes and man holes and working both inside and outside environments, including extreme hot and cold weather. Salary Range $28,398 - $42,597.
Desirable Education & Experience:
Graduation from high school and experience in semi-skilled maintenance or construction work preferably involving water distribution or sewer collection system; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Possession of a valid NC Driver’s License
May require possession of a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
Possession of Level C distribution system and Level I collection certifications within timeframe specified by the Town
