Community Center Activities
Ocean Isle Beach Community Center - Conveniently located on the oceanfront at 44 East First Street, the Community Center hours of operation is 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. The Community Center is open during the following times:
- Easter through Memorial Day - Open Saturday and Sunday
June 1st through October 31st - Open 7 days a week
November 1st through November 30th - Open Saturday and Sunday
- From June through August the Community Center offers recreational
activities Monday thru Thursday for ages 3 - 10. Click here to view these activities.
The Community Center may also be reserved for private functions such as birthday parties or weddings. To reserve the Community Center, a person must be 18 years of age and must be present during the use of the activity center. The Policies, Rules, Fees and Application for reserving the Community Center may be viewed here. The facility area available for rental consist of an 1100 square feet covered deck with a capacity of 85 people, restroom facilities, and kitchenette complete with refrigerator, microwave and sink. CAMP OIB “2011” SCHEDULE AND PROGRAM
Calling all children ages 3-10. Join us this summer at Camp OIB and enjoy spending time doing arts, crafts, games, story time and much more.
CAMP OIB is available on a first come basis to all children ages 3-10. Participants are limited to 35 per day and no advance reservations are allowed. CAMP OIB is located at the Ocean Isle Community Center 44 East First Street, Ocean Isle Beach. Registration for camp is held daily Monday-Thursday beginning at 10:00 AM and ending promptly at 10:20 AM, in order to allow for the fun to begin. Activity participant forms must be completed for all participants each day prior to the start of camp.
The 2011 season for CAMP OIB officially begins June 6 and continues until August 18. If a heat advisory is issued on any particular day, camp will be cancelled for the safety of all participants. Be sure to check our Government TV Channel 8 for weather cancellations. Camp time is from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon. Camp activities will not be held on July 4th due to the holiday. All children must be accompanied by an adult during the entire program.
A typical program for each day’s activities is as follows:
MONDAY - TROPICAL FUN
Dance the Limbo and play Where’s the Mermaid/Merman Game. Then it’s off to Mermaid Story time and craft making with beads and shells. “Gigi” grandmother of the mermaids will be on hand to share tales of the sea, so be sure to bring your camera.
TUESDAY - TURTLES AND BOATS
Dance to “Dora at the Beach” and play the Sea Turtle Game. Enjoy crafts and story time with “Baby Sea Turtle” and interact with turtle eggs. The Power Squadron will have boats and equipment on site to teach children hands-on water safety information.
WEDNESDAY - WACKY WEDNESDAY
Dance the Hokey Pokey and Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed. Enjoy beach games, making sun catchers and “Curious George” story time. Study our local shells with Ms. Gayle.
THURSDAY - PIRATE DAY
ARRGHH!! MATEY join us as we march to the Flag Parade and play the Cannonball/Treasure Hunt. Then it’s off to enjoy pirate flag crafts and “Jimmy and Pirate Talk” story time. You never know when Captain Greybeard will pay a visit.
