MINUTES

MEETING CALLED TO ORDER:

Mayor Smith called the meeting to order and stated that the purpose of the meeting was to hear comments, concerns and issues from residents.  Mayor Smith stated that all issues would be taken under advisement however, no official action would be taken during tonight’s meeting.

OVERVIEW OF COMMENTS 

1.        Sandra Best – Sand Dwellers – Mrs. Best expressed her appreciation to the Town for their willingness and cooperation in making the east end renourishment project a reality. 

2.     Ray Bell – 57 Laurinburg – Mr. Bell questioned when the contractor would complete their work on the Stormwater Project.  Mr. Sellers stated they were preparing to start the final process of finish work and should be completed shortly.  Mr. Bell also inquired as to the status of the canal dredging project.  Mayor Smith stated the Town was still working to obtain permission from the underlying property owner for placement of the spoil and the Town hopes to be able to begin this project in the Fall.

3.      David Martin – 247 East First Street – Mr. Martin requested an update on the alternate and static vegetation line. Mayor Smith stated the CRC is still discussing these issues and unfortunately have until 2009 to make a determination on our request for the establishment of an alternate vegetation line.  Mr. Martin also requested that the Town speak with Waste Industries about damaging vegetation when collecting garbage on the strand.
